TGR Group Asia are the developers behind Jumeirah Private Island Phuket, the region’s most exclusive project scheduled for completion in 2009/2010 and set to offer levels of luxury, privacy and security as yet unseen in Asia Pacific.

Jumeirah Private Island Phuket, or Barama Bay as it was then called, was discovered in 2005 during a visit to Thailand by TGR Group Asia’s Senior Managing Partner, Edward Powis. During initial feasibility studies Edward was introduced to Mr. Dilokpol Sundaravej (Tik), working at the time as country manager for Jones Lang LaSalle. It was a perfect partnership and so the platform was in place to initiate one of the most inspirational projects seen in Thailand and resort destinations worldwide, a private island off Phuket that offered the potential for privacy and security but also great accessibility, infrastructure and natural beauty. Edward and Tik set about developing a vision and putting together a management team that would have the expertise to develop such a project. The team commissioned some of the world’s top contractors and professionals including; Baker Tilly Thailand, Bovis Lend Lease, Bishop International, Johnson, Stokes and Master, Connell Wagner, WATG, A49 Design, and Hirsch Bedner.

Like all members of the senior management team, Edward intends to live on the island once it is completed.

HONG KONG, 25th January 2008 - TGR Group Asia is the visionary developer behind Jumeirah Private Island Phuket, an 80 acre exclusive island resort which is scheduled for completion in late 2009/2010 and set to offer levels of luxury, privacy and security as yet unseen in Asia Pacific.

The private islands, set to be managed by Dubai based luxury international hospitality management group Jumeirah, is located less than 500 metres off Phuket in the Southern Gateway of Phang Nga Bay and will encompass exclusive residential villas, resort, super yacht marina and yacht club.

Jumeirah Private Island, Phuket will provide the ultimate lifestyle in sumptuous surroundings, housing 49 residential villas and 105 suite and pool villas set amongst tropical gardens and a 101 berth deep water marina.

Starting at US$2.8 million, 80% of the development has already been purchased by individuals looking to take up residence on the Jumeirah Private Island.

A number of the villas and their private surroundings can be customized according to the taste of the individual buyer. Buyers can specify a 40m infinity swimming pool, 200sqm master suite, cinema room, spa and sauna facilities, games room, wine and cigar room, study and library as well as many other benefits in the Phuket Island.

The Jumeirah beach villas have direct access onto the beach, with the sea view villas looking out onto scattered islands and the ocean and allow for beach access. The greatest care has been taken to protect the ecology of the island. Only 25% of the Jumeirah Island will be built on, an integrated rainwater collection scheme will be in operation, thermal insulation in all roof structures will reduce air conditioning energy consumption, double block cavity wall and double glazed windows and patio doors will encourage thermal efficiency.

The private islands resort can be reached by a seven minute helicopter ride or by a 15 minute car journey from Phuket International airport followed by a four minute private motor yacht ride. Transport on the island itself will be by electric car only.
